Class Descriptions for

BUTTON-UP CLUB
Have you been admiring our Button-Up calendar series? Join Nancy on the
second
Friday of the month to construct this fun project. You can select our
kits for each month in either traditional colors or bright colors OR you
can select your own combinations. We will construct the foundation in
the first class and prepare for the next month’s class. We are
starting with the August month so that you can begin hanging your
projects. Patterns are required, preparation prior to class will be
discussed at first meeting. The wallhangings are combination pieced and
fused. The tops are possible to finish in class, the quilting and
binding will be done out of class. 10% discount on kits for students.
First meeting May 9, 9:30-3 Friday
Level: experienced beginner, confident with rotary cutting and your
machine.

STRIP CLUB
No need to bring your machine. Join Linda Pysto for
discussion/demonstration in the uses of our “Nifty 50” 2 1/2 inch
die cut strips. You will receive 10 free strips per meeting and a
discount on strip kits that evening.

BEGINNING QUILTING
We have an exciting new format for beginning classes with Kim Bolt. Kim
has designed a series of classes that will inspire and build new skills
with each class. The classes are
described below and are taught in this order:
BEGINNERS LUCK
Beginners class #1
2 four- hour classes Fee: $40
May 17 (part 1) Sat. & May 31 (part 2) Sat. 1-5pm
Shall we begin? This class focuses on the beginning essentials of pieced
quilting...Cutting techniques, basic piecing and ironing/pressing
skills. Please be sure you know how to use your machine and don’t
forget your class supplies.
PLAYING AROUND THE EDGES
Beginners class #2
2-four hour classes Fee: $40
June 7 (part 1) Sat. & June 21 (part 2)Sat 1-5pm
Come on in so we can keep moving in skill progression by using commonly
sewn block units in quilting such as half square triangles and flying
geese. Please be sure you know how to use your sewing machine and don’t
forget your class supplies.
BLACK, WHITE AND RED ALL
OVER
Beginners class #3 1 three hour class Fee: $20
July 19, Sat. 1-4pm
To be sure, this is a quilting classic with a bit of a contemporary
twist. Inset seams are the order of the day and they’re really pretty
easy if you know what to do. Please be sure you know how to use your
machine and don’t forget your class supplies.

CURVES, CURVES, CURVES .
. .
Most of us are afraid of them, but they don’t have to be scary! So let’s
embark on this quick journey to understanding how curved piecing is
really not as hard as you think. Please be sure you know how to use your
sewing machine and don’t forget your class supplies.
PUZZLE BLOCKS
Using Paula Nadelstern’s book “Puzzle Quilts”, we will explore new
ways of looking at all the wonderful fabrics out there. Simple block
patterns will be utilized to renew our excitement about color and fabric
choices. Not for the faint-hearted: challenge yourself!! Book required.

YING YANG SCRAP BAG

This cute versatile bag showcases all styles of fabric. Judy will teach
you how to create this fun project. Pattern required

CHARMS PARTY TOTE

This great pattern uses charm packs and Andrea’s sample is bright and
summery. Pattern required.

FREE MOTION QUILTING

Join Linda Pysto in this encore class that will help you explore ways to
complete those quilt tops. Linda will help beginners as well as seasoned
quilters learn how to perfect their machine quilting. A machine with a
walking foot is needed for this class.

PHOTO WALLHANGING

This project is constructed to enable you to insert and change your
favorite photos. No need to print on expensive fabric/paper products!
There are several patterns that use this technique and this is another
great holiday gift, send one with photos or without. Pattern required.

DIAMOND DAZZLER
This pattern is featured in the On A Roll Again book. Diane will teach
you how to turn your fabrics into a dazzling quilt. Book required.

RINGS THAT BIND
Join Linda in learning this technique that makes it possible to make a
double wedding ring quilt with no curved piecing, no binding and quilt
as you go! You will find many creative ways to use the center of the
block. This technique is from the book “Rings That Bind” by Cheryl
Phillips and Linda Pysto. Book required.

LOG CABIN ROUND
PEGS/SQUARE HOLE
This beautiful quilt has been a hit in the shop. Using Marti Michell’s
log cabin book and rulers, Linda will guide you to make your own
gorgeous quilt. Book and rulers required.

FINISHING CLASS
Unsure of how to finish those quilt tops? We will discuss simple ideas
for you to machine quilt those projects at home and some of the basic
tools you can use to help make it easier. We also will have a hands-on
lesson on how to bind your quilt to get that beautiful
mitered corner finish. Look forward to seeing you there! Lecture format
with a twist.
