KNIT & CROCHET ALONGS
Class Fee: FREE

Assistance will be available with any knitting, crocheting and finishing techniques.

CHICKS WITH STICKS
Crocheters welcome too!

First Wednesday of the month at 10 am and 6 pm.
With the recently revitalized interest in knitting, we would like to support our wonderful crafters who like to experience a variety of hand-crafted arts by offering a meeting place to share knowledge and ideas about knitting.  Our meeting is on the first Wednesday at 10am for those who prefer days and 6pm for those who prefer evenings.
Please join us and bring your "show-and-tell" items.  Our goal is to knit, learn, and share the wonderful ancient craft with all who are interested.  We welcome experiences as well as beginning knitters!  Group is free!

BEGINNING CROCHET
Class Fee: $15 for 2 Sessions - Patterns included.

Monday, March 5th and 19th, 6 - 9 pm
Learn to crochet! Learn single, double, and triple crochet stitches and other stitches as well as traditional Granny Squares and edgings! Make one or more small projects, including a scarf, dishcloth, or bag - or bring a project of your own!

Supplies: If you have a pattern you want to make, bring the recommended yarn and hook. Teacher's recommendation: worsted weight yarn and a size H, I, or J hook. Several patterns will be provided. Yarn and hooks are available at Nancy's.

BEGINNING KNITTING

The wonderful ancient art of knitting has become popular again, so come join the fun! Beginning Knitting is the class for you if you have never picked up a knitting needle or need a review of the basics. You will learn about needles, yarn and other tools along with these fundamentals of knitting: casting on and off, knit and purl stitches including garter stitch, stockinette stitch, seed stitch, ribbing, and cables. With this knowledge, you will be able to knit scarves, pillow tops, afghans and much more! The second class session will introduce additional stitches as desired by students as well as learning to shape with increasing and decreasing and to knit lace patterns.

Supplies: Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn, approximately 4 oz. or any yarn for desired project
Size 6 or 7 straight knitting needles.

SOCK KNITTING
Using the "Magic Loop" Method

Want to LEARN to knit socks or IMPROVE your sockknitting skills? Socks are fun and portable, and easier than you might think!! You just need to know basic knitting skills (cast on, knit, purl, cast off), the rest you can learn in class! If you've never worked with circular needles, have no fear, the class will start with teaching this skill. You will need a minimum of 2 class sessions to learn this skill, and you may attend any 2 sessions that fit your schedule. For those who want to improve their sockknitting skills, several new patterns will be available.

Supplies: Sock, DK or Sport Weight Yarn, 100 grams
Size 1 or 2 40"-circular knitting needle (I recommend Addi Turbo needles by Skacel)

Project: Crocheted Button Fringe Heart Necklace
Pattern Sold Separately
The Button Fringe Heart Necklace may be crocheted in any color of Size 10 Crochet Thread with a size 7 Steel Crochet Hook. You will need 22 buttons in sizes from 3/8" to 1" in diameter to color coordinate with selected thread. Four basic crochet stitches are used.

KNITTING TECHNIQUE CLASSES
January's Technique: Lace
Project:
"Thinking of You Scarf"
Class Fees: $15 Each

Saturday, January 20th - 9 - Noon
Pattern & Supplies Sold Separately: 175 yards of DK or light worsted weight yarn for 5" x 58" scarf, or desired length with yardage adjustment. 4 ½ stitches/inch, size US 7 needles suggested.
Say "I'm thinking of you" with a hand knit scarf of lace hearts. Simple and quick to knit on just 29 stitches.
The scarf begins with a wavy eyelet rib stitch symbolizing the twists and turns of life, and ends with a band of interlocking hearts to express the bonds of loving friendship and support.


February's Technique: Entrelac "Scarf or Stole"

March's Technique: Fair Isle "Cuffs"

Learn or practice your Fair Isle knitting technique by making cuffs which can be used with socks, gloves, mittens, fingerless mitts, or even on a hat!  Patterns will include cuffs for Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.

 

NEW Knit Along:  Nativity Set

Our NEW Nativity Knit Along will begin in January and last the year through.  We will be knitting one Nativity Character per month except for the Sheep, which we will do 2 in one month.  This will allow us to complete the entire set by next December!  Figures are approximately 10" tall.

NEW  Knitting Class - "Cabled Bag"
This wonderful bag if much easier to make than it looks!  Make it from bulky yarn and use a purchased handle to finish it to perfection!  Class includes pattern.
Level: Beginner - Must know how to Cast On, Knit, Purl, and Bind Off

Supplies:  Approximately 110 yards each of 4 colors of yarn, or a variation thereof for a total of 420 yards.

NEW   Knitting Class:  "Short Row Scarf"
The fun and easy scarf will make up quickly and will surprise you along the way!  Use any weight of variegated yarn from sock weight to worsted - even bulky!  Make with or without fringe.
Class Fee: $15 - Pattern included.

Wednesday, January 10th ~ 6 - 9 pm
Supplies: It takes approximately 200 yds. of yarn to make a 4’ scarf, 300 yds. to make a 6’ scarf. (Your exact mileage will depend on how heavy the yarn is and what needle size you choose.) Use all one yarn, or experiment with alternating among multiple yarns to get a striped or patchwork effect. Variegated and self-striping yarns are particularly well-suited for this project.

 

NEW  Knitting Class - "Neckwarmer with Heart"
This neckwarmer is a fun project for a beginning and experiences knitters alike.  It uses about 250 yards of a light weight or fingering yarn with needle size appropriate for yarn.

The Hot Pad and Mitt make a wonderful gift to give your your heart.  You can make the hearts red or match to a kitchen of any color.

A beautifully feminine scarf.

Supplies: It takes approximately 250 yds. of sport weight yarn and size 8 needle (Circular works best to hold the 100 stitches you cast on.)


NEW  Knitting Class - "Scallop Purse"
The purse comes in 2 sizes and is knit sideways using the short row technique.
