MOUNTMELLICK EMBROIDERY

  Mountmellick is a bold form of white work embroidery which originated in Ireland. The embroidery is worked on a heavy white satin jean fabric with white embroidery thread. It is a hard-wearing technique that can be washed regularly. This class will teach you the embroidery stitches unique to Mountmellick, including the Mountmellick Stitch, Coral Knot, Portuguese Knotted Stem Stitch, Padded Satin Stitch, Palestrina Knot Stitch, and the Cable Plait Stitch. The traditional knitted fringe will also be demonstrated.
Supplies: Scissors, 5" or 6" Embroidery Hoop
Level:   Level: Must be Familiar with Basic Embroidery Techniques.
